Scanning a QTcode is anonymous. No ads, no trackers and no personal data from anyone who scans. The scan numbers belong to the code's owner, and only they can see them.
Anonymous scansNo IP address, no name, no exact location is ever stored.
No ads, no trackersNo advertising, no tracking pixels, no data sold or shared.
Private statsYour scan stats are for you alone, on every plan, Free included.
What happens when someone scans a code
The phone opens the short link (qtcode.io/…) and is sent straight to the owner's page. There is no page in between, no cookie, no ad, and nothing is added to the owner's link.
To count the scan, QTcode keeps four things, and nothing else:
Kept, per scan
The time of the scan
The country, as two letters (for example CA)
The kind of device: phone, tablet or computer
The channel, when the link was shared with one (for example WhatsApp)
Never kept
IP addresses
City, street or GPS location
Names, emails or phone numbers
The full browser details, or a fingerprint
Cookies or any ID that follows a person
Like any website, the network that delivers the link (our host, Netlify) sees the connection in order to deliver it. Only the country and the device type are passed on to QTcode; the IP address never reaches our server and is never stored with the scans. A scan can't be traced back to a person, even by us.
Your stats are yours
Scan stats (by day, country, device and channel) are shown only to the code's owner, in their dashboard. Other accounts can't read them: the server refuses.
We don't sell, rent or share them, and we never use them for advertising.
Delete a code and its scans are deleted with it.
Stats are free on every plan. Nobody has to pay to keep their data private.
No ads, no trackers on our site
QTcode shows no ads and runs no analytics or tracking scripts: no ad networks, no tracking pixels, no third-party analytics. The only outside files our pages load are fonts (Google Fonts), plus our sign-in provider (Clerk) on the sign-in and dashboard pages.
Safe links for the people who scan
Every link is checked against Google Web Risk (known phishing and malware sites) when it's saved, and checked again regularly. A flagged link is switched off.
Only the destination link is checked. Nothing about the people who scan is ever sent.
Only https:// and http:// web links are allowed.
Anyone can report a code that looks wrong: report a code.
Your account and payments
Sign-in is handled by Clerk, with Google or your email. QTcode never sees your Google password.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card number goes to Stripe, never to QTcode.
Your codes and stats are kept on QTcode's own server. Its admin tools can't be reached from the internet, and every connection uses HTTPS.
Links that last
Codes never expire, free or paid.
The redirect never gets cached by phones, so a changed link takes effect on the next scan.
Short links are served worldwide with a saved copy, so printed codes keep working even if our server is briefly down.
